Klaeson Finishes 6-0 At Bulldog Scramble To Lead Rebels

ATHENS, Ga. - Ole Miss sophomore men's tennis player Jakob Klaeson won both his singles and doubles matches Sunday at the Bulldog Scramble to lead the Rebels on the weekend with a 6-0 record.
Klaeson defeated Marcus Sundh of Kentucky, 6-4, 6-3 and then teamed up with Bram ten Berge to post an 8-5 doubles win over Carey Rubin and Kenny Hodge of Kentucky. Klaeson and ten Berge went 3-0 in doubles for the weekend to finish the fall 4-1.
Senior Juan Pablo Di Cesare lost to Ricardo Gonzalez of Georgia, 6-7, 6-3, 10-8, and Bram ten Berge fell to Bruno Agostinelli, 6-4, 6-2 in the other singles matches played.
The Rebels concluded an excellent fall this weekend. Sophomore Erling Tveit competed in the ITA National Indoor, where he posted a first-round win over the nation's 19th-ranked player. He qualified for the National Indoor by capturing the Southeast Regional (nation's toughest region) and finished with an 11-3 record.
In all, five of the back-to-back SEC Champion Rebels posted at least 10 wins this fall. Di Cesare finished at 10-6. Junior Eric Claesson led the Rebels with a 14-4 record and won the Ole Miss Fall Classic. Sophomore Bram ten Berge had a great fall, going 11-5, and newcomer Christopher Rea, went 11-4.
"We had some great results this fall," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "All of the guys played extremely well. We are excited about the spring and competing for our third consecutive SEC Championship."
The Rebels will open the spring season at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic Jan. 12-15. They will follow that up with the SEC Indoor Championships Jan. 20-23, before hosting Louisville in their dual match opener on Jan. 27.
