Colorado Springs, Colo. - Shannon Wilson, a sophomore shooter at Ole Miss, won the junior women's air rifle portion of the 3x Air and Top Gun Championships held over the weekend at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Wilson, a native of Fairfax Station, Va., scored an overall mark of 491.8, placing her first among shooters from around the country. Wilson's victory earned her a spot on the U.S. National Development Team. She joins current teammate, junior Jennifer Lorenzen, on the team, which is used to select participants for the U.S. Olympic Team.

The U.S. National Development Team will travel to Munich, Germany, to compete in the Bavarian Air Rifle Championships in January.

Wilson tied the school record in the air rifle, with a mark of 590 earlier this season versus Nebraska. She also received All-Academic Student-Athlete honors from the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association last season.

Ole Miss travels to West Point, N.Y. on Jan. 22, to compete against last season's NCAA National Champion, Army.
