OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss Rebel basketball player Bam Doyne will be competing in Germany as part of a group of college players sponsored by SCORE International and Phil Waldrep Ministries International.
The team departs Tuesday on the 12-day International Basketball Outreach event, which will be held at various locations in Germany. Highlighting the trip is the Nation's Cup Tournament in Muster, which features teams from Turkey, Germany, Russia and the United States. The SCORE squad will take on international pro teams and American military base teams.
Doyne, a rising junior, has played in 42 games for the Rebels over the last two seasons, with six starts. Last year, the 6-foot-4 swingman dropped in 11 points against both Illinois State and Nicholls State and posted 10 against UT-Martin. Doyne totaled 9 points and 3 steals vs. Southeastern Louisiana and totaled 8 key points in a road win over VCU.
He is the second Ole Miss player to take part in international competition this summer, joining Jermey Parnell who toured the Far East with the Sport Reach ministries team in May. A sophomore forward/center, Parnell shined in his Asia experience, averaging 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 58.2 percent shooting over the seven games.
Last summer, former Rebel Shaun Holtz traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with a SCORE All-Star team.
