Lady Rebels In Sixth Place After 18 Holes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss women's golf team carded a 311 in their first round of action at the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Lady Rebels are in sixth place behind junior Katie Davidson, who led Ole Miss with a four over par 76 through the first 18 holes at the Ol Colony Golf Course. Davidson is tied for 12th place entering Monday's second round of 18.
Senior Sarah Kate Cousart finished the day tied in 30th place with fellow Lady Rebel freshman Dori Carter as each player finished the first round with a 78. Senior Laura Evans sits in 39th place after day one with a 79, while freshman Rachel Ingram is also in 39th place with a 79.
Augusta State University carded a team round of 297 to finish the first round of the 54-hole tournament in first place, just nine strokes over. Behind the 16-team tournament leader was Alabama with a 298 (+10), Middle Tennessee State with a 304 (+16), Birmingham Southern in fourth with a 306 (+18) and North Carolina Wilmington in fifth place after shooting 308, 20 strokes over par.
The individual leader for the tournament was Middle Tennessee's Taryn Durham. Durham fired an initial round of 69 to finish three strokes under par on the 6,033-yard course. In second and third place were Augusta States' Garrett Phillips (71, -1) and Lauren Smith (72, E).
Second-round competition is slated for 8 a.m. Monday morning.
