Rebel Netters To Compete At Southern Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team returns to the courts this weekend to compete at the 38th annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships Friday-Monday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
The oldest tournament in the South, the four-day event features players from 25 teams, including eight from the SEC. The tournament will be comprised of three singles and two doubles divisions.
The Rebels will have their entire team, with the exception of one, competing this weekend. Sophomore Erling Tveit, ranked No. 43 in the nation, will be among 19 nationally-ranked players in the field. Tveit, who is seeded No. 5 in the Division I singles draw, is off to a good start this fall, having reached the finals of the Middle Tennessee Invitational last weekend.
Junior Eric Claesson, who won the Ole Miss Fall Classic and is ranked No. 110 in the nation, will face Rodrigo Santos of Winthrop in the first round Friday. Senior Juan Pablo Di Cesare, ranked No. 116 and a finalist at the Ole Miss Fall Classic, faces East Tennessee State's Oscar Posada, ranked No. 34.
Sophomore Bram ten Berge, a finalist at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational last weekend, will play Geraldo Knorr of South Carolina in the first round, while fellow sophomore Jakob Klaeson will meet Slavko Radman of Louisville.
In the Division II singles draw, Christopher Rea will go up against Jay Swamidass of Auburn.
In doubles, Ole Miss will have three teams in Division I, including the No. 2 seed, Claesson and Tveit. The Reb duo is ranked No. 21 in the nation and will be playing together for just the second time. Claesson ended the 2005 season ranked No. 13 nationally with former All-American Catalin Gard and qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championships.
ten Berge and Rea will team up together for the first time as will Di Cesare and Klaeson.
