LEXINGTON, Ky.. The weather was perfect for the final round of the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational Sunday, a welcome change after blustery winds and rain on Saturday. The Lady Rebels shot a 312 to finish in eighth place at the University Club.
The Lady Rebels ended up with a 321-316-312949 total for the three-round tournament.
Memphis fired a final round 298 and finished four strokes (929) better than second place Augusta State (933), who also shot a 298 in the last round. North Carolina State came in third at 937. Mississippi State’s Amanda Mathis carded a 75-73-77225 to take medalist honors.
Freshman Sara Grantham earned her first career top 10 finish, tying for 10th with an 80-74-80234. Senior Katie Davidson finished one behind Grantham at 76-80-79235 to tie for 12th. It marked her second consecutive top 20 finish of the year.
Sophomore Dori Carter turned in a 79-84-77240 to finish tied for 32, Katherine Jones finished with a 87-80-76243 and J.J. Flynn posted an 86-82-83251 to round out the Lady Rebels. Megan Johnson, who was competing as an individual, shot 82-79-79243.
The Lady Rebels will be back in action Oct. 6-8 at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
