Dwayne Curtis To Miss Time With Injury
10/16/2006 | Men's Basketball
OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss basketball team is expected to be without junior center Dwayne Curtis for 2-4 weeks, after the preseason All-SEC honoree suffered a stress fracture in his left foot Sunday night in the third day of preseason practice.
"It's unfortunate for Dwayne," said first-year Rebel head coach Andy Kennedy. "We feel bad his season had to start this way, but injuries are a part of the game. We will always do what is in the best interest of the player, and we will make sure he is completely ready before he starts playing again."
Curtis averaged 13.6 points and 7.6 rebounds in earning Honorable Mention All-SEC distinction a year ago. The Chicago native notched seven double-doubles and six 20-point performances.
The Rebels, who opened preseason workouts Friday night, host exhibitions with North Alabama Nov. 3 and Delta State Nov. 6, before tipping off the 2006-07 season against Mississippi Valley State Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. CT at Tad Smith Coliseum.
