Rebel Basketball Hosts Open Scrimmage Tonight

In a game-like atmosphere, the Rebels will compete in an intra-squad game, and afterwards, will meet with fans and sign autographs.
Admission is free, and 2006-07 posters and schedule cards will given away.
The Rebels are in the midst of their second week of preseason practice, as they prepare for year one of the Kennedy era. Ole Miss hosts its first exhibition Nov. 3 against North Alabama at 7 p.m. in
REBELS PILE UP POINTS IN FIRST SCRIMMAGE
In the first scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday, Ole Miss' new up-tempo offense produced plenty of points, as the White team prevailed 101-83 over the Navy Team. Senior guard Clarence Sanders drilled 7-of-11 3-pointers to lead the White with 35 points. Sophomore transfer David Huertas, who is sitting out this season, continued his outstanding play with 22 points and 4-of-7 treys. Also for the White, Xavier Hansbro posted 15 points and 7 rebounds, Kenny Williams had 13 points and 7 boards, and Todd Abernethy scored 8 with 10 assists.
Enjoying a strong preseason, senior Bam Doyne dropped in a team-high 24 points with 6 rebounds for the Navy. Trey Hampton connected on 7-of-8 field goals in totaling 17 points, while Jermey Parnell hit 4-of-5 shots and finished with 11 points and 6 boards.
Overall, the Rebel teams combined to shoot 57 percent from the field, including 43 percent from behind the arc.
CURTIS INJURY UPDATE
The team received the MRI results of Dwayne Curtis' injured left foot on Thursday, and determined it would be require 4-5 weeks of rehap for the preseason All-SEC center. The next x-ray of the stress-fractured third metatarsal will be Nov. 2. Curtis suffered the injury in the third day of preseason workouts.
