Carter Leads Lady Rebel Golfers At Derby Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. Lady Rebel sophomore Dori Carter shot a first-round 75 Saturday to lead the Ole Miss women’s golf team at the Derby Invitational on a wet Auburn University Course. Rain washed out the first round on Friday, so the tournament was shortened to a two-day event.
Carter is tied for fourth with three other players and is one back of second and three back of the lead. Junior Katherine Jones carded a 77 in the first round and sits in a tie for 22nd. Sophomore J.J. Flynn posted a 78 (T39), senior Katie Davidson (T44) turned in a 79, and freshman Sara Grantham (T55) finished with an 80.
The Lady Rebels as a team are tied for sixth with an opening round of 309. The host Tigers first round 303 places them second on a leaderboard that is very crowded at the top.
