AUBURN, Ala. Lady Rebel sophomore Dori Carter finished tied for 14th with a 75-76151 to lead the Ole Miss women’s golf team at the Derby Invitational at the Auburn University Course, Sunday. Rain washed out the first round on Friday, so the tournament was shortened to a 54-hole event.
This marks Carter’s third top 20 showing of the fall. She missed a top-10 finish by two strokes. The Lady Rebels concluded the fall in 11th place at the Derby Invitational, with a 309-308--617.
Junior Katherine Jones carded a 77-77-154 to tie for 24th. Freshman Sara Grantham finished with an 80-76156, sophomore J.J. Flynn posted a 78-79157 and senior Katie Davidson turned in a 79-81160 to round out the Lady Rebels.
Sixth-ranked Auburn won its own tournament with a 594, 12 shots better than instate rival, Alabama. Tennessee, ranked No. 10, finished third, followed by No. 15 North Carolina, with Florida, LSU and South Carolina tying for fifth place.
Auburn’s Marisa Milligan took individual honors after shooting a 1-under par 71 in the final round to finish at 1-over for the tournament.
The Lady Rebels will begin the spring season Feb. 24-26 at the Chrysler Challenge in Sandestin, Fla.
