Klaeson's Run At All-American Comes To An End

TULSA, Okla. Rebel junior Jakob Klaeson’s run at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships came to an end Friday in the third round, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. 

 

Klaeson faced Clemson’s top player, Clement Reix (seeded 9-16) and lost in two close sets, 6-3, 6-4.   The Lidkoping, Sweden, native won five in a row to advance through the qualifying tournament to the third round of the main draw.  It marked his first appearance in the main draw of a national championship tournament.

 

Included in his five-match win streak, were two three-set victories on the opening day of the main draw.  With his play at the All-American, Klaeson improved to 6-4 on the fall.

 

The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships offer the first national singles and doubles titles of the 2006-07 collegiate tennis season and are followed by the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.

 

All told, 36 of the top 40 players from the Fila national singles rankings are competing in Tulsa.
