Ole Miss-Mississippi Valley State Postgame Quotes
11/10/2006 | Men's Basketball
Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy
"We still have some work to do. I thought we really played better in the second half. We tried to play what looked like a motion offense, but we didn't move the ball around. Defensively, I thought we played really well the entire game. We held them to 25 percent shooting. When Todd (Abernethy) went out of the game, that took the guy that really controls the team defensively out of the game. I thought that we just played really well defensively."
"We knew that Coach Green's team would be ready and fired up. His reputation precedes him. They had really good ball control. They spread you out. We knew that they would be prepared. I thought our kids responded well to the pressure."
On Bam Doyne:
"Bam played well. I thought that Bam was really our best shooter tonight. He just seemed to be more efficient out there. I think that Clarence Sanders missed some shots that he normally would make. Bam stepped up. That is what we need right now."
Mississippi Valley State Head Coach James Green
"They pushed us out of what we wanted to do. They started knocking down shots from the perimeter. That's when I knew we were in trouble. I thought they did a good job of being physical. They were able to pound the ball inside. I thought they did a good job on both ends of the court."
On being honored in a pre-game ceremony (along with former Rebel teammate, the late Cecil Dowell):
"It feels good. I had mixed emotions. Cecil Dowell was my college roommate and my roommate when he first came to Valley (as an assistant coach). I really appreciate Coach Kennedy and (Ole Miss senior associate A.D.) Derek Horne for organizing it. It thought it was great."
