Ole Miss Rifle Announces Signing Of Hawkins, Holman and Leatherman

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss rifle head coach Valerie Boothe announced the signing of three players on Monday. Corinne Hawkins of Spokane, Wash., Meredith Holman of Annandale, Va., and Stacie Leatherman of Boonsboro, Md., signed national letters of intent to join the Ole Miss rifle program beginning in the 2007-08 academic year.

 

“I am very excited about this freshman class,” said Boothe, the 2006 CRCA National Coach of the Year. “It is a very strong group of shooters. They all bring different strengths to the program. They taking coaching very well and I think they will fit in very well.”

 

Corinne Hawkins, a senior at North Central High School, is the captain of the Washington Rifle and Pistol Association team that took 2nd place at the NRA National Air Gun Championships. The team set a four person team record and Hawkins tied the kneeling record of 199. Hawkins is also a three-time Washington state women’s prone champion and holds a prone record with USA Shooting at 50 feet.

 

Holeman, a senior at W.T. Woodson High School, is a two-time team captain of her high school’s rifle team. She is a three-time participant in the Junior National Championships and holds three national records. She is a cheerleader and heavily involved in student government, having been elected class president three times.

 

Leatherman, a senior at Boonsboro High School, is a five-time Maryland Junior Olympics champion in the air rifle and smallbore. She had participated in five national Junior Olympics competitions in both the air rifle and smallbore. Leatherman has lettered in track and field and had been nominated to the national honor roll.
