Rebels Topple Warhawks by 34

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Bam Doyne matched his career high with 25 points and Dwayne Curtis added 16 points and 11 rebounds as Ole Miss defeated Louisiana-Monroe 87-53 Tuesday night.
Curtis, in his second appearance after being sidelined with a preseason foot injury, recorded his eighth double-double as a Rebel with more than five minutes remaining in the first half. He played only briefly in the second half.
Clarence Sanders added 10 points for Ole Miss (8-2), which has won nine straight over the Warhawks.
Louisiana-Monroe (4-6) was led by Jonas Brown and Lance Brasher with 12 points each. The Warhawks have lost four games to SEC Western Division opponents, including LSU, Alabama and Auburn.
Ole Miss took control quickly, racing to a 15-5 lead in the opening minutes and the Warhawks never got closer than seven points. Louisiana-Monroe managed only 8-of-29 from the field and had 11 turnovers in the first half.
The Rebels led 42-19 at the half.
Ole Miss shot 35-of-70 from the field as Curtis and Doyne combined to go 16-of-29. Louisiana-Monroe finished 19-of-53 and had 20 turnovers.
The Rebels next take to the road for a battle with South Alabama Saturday in Mobile. Game time is set for 5 p.m. CT and will be televised on CSS. The encounter is the first half of a hoops doubleheader that features No. 9 Alabama vs. Southern Miss in the nightcap.
