KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ole Miss' Dwayne Curtis has earned All-District 6 Second Team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The sophomore center is the first Rebel to receive NABC All-District accolades since Justin Reed garnered first team distinction in 2004.

In his first season in the Red and Blue, Curtis scored in double-figures in 21 games with six 20-point outings and seven double-doubles. The Chicago native topped Ole Miss in scoring (13.6), rebounding (7.6), steals (1.6), blocks (0.6) and field goal percentage (.568). He is among the SEC leaders in nine categories, including ranking top-5 in field goal percentage, rebounding and offensive boards.

At one point, Curtis reeled off four straight 20-point games. The 6-foot-8, 290-pounder lit up Southeastern Louisiana for 23 points and 9 rebounds. He followed up with a career-high 25 points with 9 rebounds and 2 steals against Alcorn State, and totaled 21 points, 6 boards and 3 steals vs. Western Carolina. Curtis capped the streak with 21 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks in directing the Rebels to their first win at Alabama since 1997-98. The performance earned him SEC Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

In league play, Curtis also punched in with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the home win over Arkansas. After missing the first Kentucky meeting and a week of action after the death of his brother on Feb. 17, Curtis returned to collect 18 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals against Auburn, whom he played for as a freshman before transferring to Ole Miss. He followed up with 15 points and a career-high 5 steals against Vanderbilt and struck for 11 points and 12 rebounds at LSU. He also did a strong defensive job on Tiger forward Glen Davis, holding the SEC Player of the Year to only 3-of-5 field goals.

The All-District teams are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC. A total of 150 student-athletes, from 15 districts, receive the honor. From District 6, the first team included Jermareo Davidson, Alabama, Taureen Green, Florida; Al Thorton, Florida State and Guillermo Diaz and Robert Hite, Miami. Curtis was joined on the second team by Ronald Steele, Alabama and Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah and Al Horford, Florida.
