CHICAGO - Ole Miss freshman soccer standout Jennifer Hance has recently been selected as one of 23 players to participate in a five-day camp with the United States Under-20 Women's National Team from March 8-12 in College Station, Texas.

The camp roster includes some of the top college and high school women in the nation as they compete for spots on the full U-20 National Team roster. Hance is the first Ole Miss player to ever be selected to the U-20 National Team Camp.

Hance, a native of Sugar Land, Texas, was the 2005 SEC Freshman of the Year and earned second-team Freshman All-America honors from Soccer Buzz after leading the Southeastern Conference with five game-winning goals and tying for the team lead with seven goals on the season.

"It's such an honor for me to be a part of this," Hance said of her selection. "I'm excited that I will be in the presence of some of the best college soccer players in the nation, coming from the top schools. Making the trip to College Station will hopefully leave me with more knowledge of the game of soccer and more experience. It is also a relief that it is so close to home, so my family will be able to come and watch the games."

This past fall the First Team All-SEC midfielder helped the Rebels to a 14-5-2 record, a second-place overall finish in the SEC and the program's third trip in four years to the NCAA Tournament.

"This is a great and very deserving accomplishment for Jen," said Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman. "She is a hard worker and is determined to be an elite soccer player. This is a tremendous honor for Jen and for the Ole Miss program as a whole."

Hance is listed on the team roster as a defender, but will probably also participate at the center mid position.

Should Hance be selected to the full national team, she will join the squad at the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship, to be held in Russia from Aug. 17-Sept. 3. The host sites for the competition include four professional stadiums in Moscow (Dinamo, Lokomotiv, Shelkovo and Torpedo) and one in St. Petersburg (Petrovsky).
