9/11/2006 | Soccer
The
Weatherly was part of a double pass that led to Danielle Johnson’s game-tying goal against Southern Miss in the first half on Friday.
The rookie shined on Sunday, scoring in the 10th minute with a strike to the left corner of the net from the right side of the box. She then helped the Rebels continue the offensive explosion in the 81st minute when she streaked down the right side, beat a defender and tapped a crossing pass to a wide-open Amanda Verkin to give the Rebels a 3-0 margin of victory.
After the stellar weekend, Weatherly is tied for second on the team with six points (2 goals and 2 assists).
She is the first Rebel to earn an SEC player of the week honor this season after the team racked up a school-record five such honors a year ago.
