Lady Rebel Golfers Finish Fifth At Jeannine McHaney Intercollegiate

LUBBOCK, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s golf team fired a final round 299 Tuesday to finish fifth at the Texas Tech Jeannine McHaney Intercollegiate at the Par 72, 6,450 Rawls Course.  This was their first tournament of the season.

The Lady Rebels came into the final round in fourth place and finished with a three-round total of 301-292-299892.   SMU (878) held off a surging TCU (871) team to take home the tournament title by three strokes.  Sara Wilkstrom of Arkansas-Little Rock carded a 69-71-67207 to take medalist honors.

Three Lady Rebels earned top 20 finishes led by sophomore Dori Carter, who picked up her third career top 10 finish with a 74-72-72218.    The 218 is her personal best three-round score.

Senior Katie Davidson and junior Katherine Jones finished tied for 14^th with a score of 222.  Jones had the highlight of the tournament for the Lady Rebels, as she hit a hole-in-one on her third hole of the second round on Monday.  It was her first hole-in-one.  Jones also had a personal best 54-hole tournament.

Freshman Sara Grantham finished tied for 34 with a 75-78-77230, and the team’s other freshman Andrea Buccilla had a 79-79-86244.  Sophomore J.J. Flynn competed in the tournament as an individual and recorded a 77-74-80--231 to finish tied for 36. 

Ole Miss will be back on the links Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational.
