LEXINGTON, Ky.. In brisk and rainy conditions, the Ole Miss women’s golf team shot a 321 in the first round of the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational Saturday at the University Club, and stood in fourth place. At press time, most teams had only played 11 to 12 holes of the second round.
Memphis totaled a 312 in the first round to lead second place North Carolina State (316) by four. Louisville sat in third place at 320. Amanda Mathis of Mississippi State fired a 75, as did Rachel Larson of Memphis, to tie for the individual lead after one round.
Senior Katie Davidson fired a 76 to lead the Lady Rebels in the first round and was in third place heading into the second round. Sophomore Dori Carter opened with a 79 to tie for 12th after round one. Freshman Sara Grantham finished with a first round 80, sophomore J.J. Flynn shot an 86, and Katherine Jones turned in an 87.
Sophomore Megan Johnson, who is competing as an individual, carded a first-round 82.
