Strini, Shelton, Williams Receive NSCAA Academic Honors

OXFORD, Miss. - Three Rebel soccer players have been honored for their outstanding work in the classroom during the fall by being named to one of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Scholar All-South Region teams.

Junior midfielder Chrissy Strini was recognized as a member of the second team, while junior goalkeeper Ann Shelton and senior defender Lyndsey Williams made honorable mention. The trio had previously earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI second-team honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A native of Cordova, Tenn., Strini was honored first team All-SEC for the second year in a row after tying for the league lead with eight assists, to go with one goal. Strini has a 3.73 GPA as an exercise science major and is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The Rebels' starting goalkeeper, Shelton led the Southeastern Conference in league play with a 0.41 goals-against average this season, helping Ole Miss tie Kentucky for the fewest goals allowed in SEC play with five. The marketing communications major from Tullahoma, Tenn., boasts a 3.72 grade point average through her first three years of college and is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Williams, a four-year starter and 2004 All-SEC pick from Germantown, Tenn., was the 2006 SEC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year. She has amassed a 3.91 GPA in banking and finance and is a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

The honorees mark the 26th, 27th and 28th Academic All-District selections all-time for the Rebel soccer program.
