Rebels Visit St. Jude Children's Hospital
1/25/2007 | Men's Basketball
On December 8, the Ole Miss basketball team took a break from its trip to battle the Memphis Tigers to visit patients and tour St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"We want our players to understand the impact they can have on young people," said Rebel head coach Andy Kennedy. "It's exciting for our program to give back to such a great cause."
Several patients, who were already Ole Miss fans, had family and friends join them in photographs with the players and in piling up the autographs. Those children that weren't fans before may very well be now, as the players spoke with the kids and presented them with posters, media guides and other Rebel gifts.
The Ole Miss players and coaches also got some background on the hospital's impact, its founder Danny Thomas and the Nobel Prize winning research St. Judes has provided.
