Ole Miss Rifle Falls To Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. The Ole Miss Rebel rifle fell to host Murray State over the weekend, by a team aggregate score of 4579-4555.

“I felt like we shot a little bit better,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “We definitely were better in the air rifle than we had been, but we are still working some things out. It is still early in the season.”

The Rebels were led by junior Jessica Hornby who fired an air rifle score of 582. Others shooting for Ole Miss included Shannon Wilson (579), Stacie Leatherman (577), and Casey Phillips (568).  Freshman Erica Swanson fired a career-best mark of 584, the second highest score of the match. Ole Miss finished with a team air rifle score of 2306, while Murray State posted a score of 2309.

In the smallbore senior Shannon Wilson led the way with a score of 573. Jessica Hornby (566), Stacie Leatherman (563) and Casey Phillips (547) rounded out the Rebels’ smallbore roster. Ole Miss finished with a team smallbore score of2249 to Murray State’s 2270.

Ole Miss travels to Morgantown, W. Va. on October 27 to face host school West Virginia and Army.
