Meet The Rebel Hoops Teams Saturday In Grove

OXFORD, Miss. As the 2007-08 basketball season inches closer, fans will get their opportunity to “Meet the Rebels” this Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Grove prior to the football team’s 1 p.m. contest against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Men’s coach Andy Kennedy and women’s coach Renee Ladner, along with their players and staffs, will be available for autographs in front of the Student Union. Rebel Sports Marketing will also be handing out Ole Miss posters and schedule cards for the hoops teams.

The Rebels are coming off a 2007 Southeastern Conference Western Division title under Kennedy, who was named SEC Coach of the Year by the Associated Press. The Lady Rebels advanced all the way to the Elite Eight in last year’s NCAA Tournament, making it the fifth Elite Eight appearance in program history.

The Ole Miss men, who return two starters and welcome 10 newcomers this year, are gearing up for a Nov. 2 exhibition game against Delta State before the season opener on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Mississippi Valley State, slated for a 2 p.m. tip-off at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ladner’s Lady Rebels play exhibitions on Nov. 4 and 8 in Oxford before hitting the road for the season opener at Nebraska on Nov. 11. They will get things started at home on Sunday, Nov. 18 against Louisiana-Lafayette, with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
