Johnson Named All-Region By Soccer Buzz

12/22/2007 | Soccer

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss sophomore Danielle Johnson can add some more hardware to her growing collection, as the All-SEC defender was named second team All-Central Region by Soccer Buzz this week.

Johnson earns All-Region honors for the second time in as many years after she was tabbed to the Central Region third team a season ago. She has also been named All-SEC in her first two years, earning first-team honors this season after being named second team in 2006.

The 2006 Freshman All-American anchored a Rebel back line that allowed just 21 goals in 20 contests. Perhaps the fittest player on the Rebel squad, Johnson played in 1,908 of a possible 1,918 minutes on the pitch this year. After helping Ole Miss to a 2-1 win over Auburn and 3-0 shutout of Alabama, she was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week and earned Soccer America Team of the Week accolades.
