Ole Miss Rifle Competes In NCAA Sectional

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss rifle team competed in the NCAA Sectional on Saturday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center. The team posted an aggregate score of 4562.

 

“I think we just felt the pressure a little bit,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “We just didn’t perform like we needed too. I think Jennifer Lorenzen and Shannon Wilson still have a shot to make the NCAA Championship as individuals.”

 

Wilson led Ole Miss in the air rifle with a score of 590. Jennifer Lorenzen (584), Jessica Hornby (583) and Mara Polonsky (560) all added to the Rebel score. Ole Miss finished with a team aggregate of 2317 in the air rifle.

 

Lorenzen led the way for Ole Miss in the smallbore with a score of 580. Jessica Hornby, Mara Polonsky and Shannon Wilson all posted scores of 555. The team finished an a smallbore aggregate of 2245.

 

Ole Miss hosts the Great America Rifle Conference Championships, beginning Feb. 23 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.
