GARC Awards Announced

OXFORD, Miss. The Great America Rifle Conference Awards were announced on Friday at the conference banquet. Senior Jennifer Lorenzen and junior Shannon Wilson both picked up second team all-conference honors.

 

Lorenzen, a Memphis, Tenn. native, earned second team All-GARC honors in the smallbore after posting a season average of 575.33. She also earned honorable mention honors in the combined event. Lorenzen earned honorable mention All-GARC honors in the smallbore last season. She was recently selected to compete as an individual in the NCAA Rifle Championships which begin March 9 in Fairbanks, Alaska.

 

Wilson, a Fairfax Station, Va. native, was named second team All-GARC in the air rifle after posting a season average of 584.50. This is the second straight season Wilson has earned second team all-conference honors in the air rifle. She as recently selected to compete as an individual in the NCAA Rifle Championships which begin March 9 in Fairbanks, Alaska and finished runner-up at last season’s NCAA Championships in the smallbore.

 

Senior Casey Phillips was named the Ole Miss Scholar Athlete of the Year for the Year.

 

Kentucky’s Harry Mullins was named GARC Coach of the Year and Army’s Chris Abalo was named the Shooter of the Year.

 

The GARC Championships begin on Saturday morning at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center with the smallbore event and run through Sunday afternoon.
