Lorenzen Finishes Runner-Up Smallbore At GARC Championships

“I am very proud of Jennifer,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “This was her last home match and her last team match. The finals are usually her strong point. She really battled and I am proud of her.”
In the finals, Lorenzen’s score of 93.3 was edged out by Army’s Chris Abalo who posted a score of 101.4. Abalo had a score of 579 heading into the finals and finished with a total of 680.4. Lorenzen finished with a total score of 677.3.
Lorzenen, who was recently selected to compete as an individual in the smallbore at the NCAA Championships, set a new school record with the mark of 584.
The Rebels finished fourth as a team in the smallbore with a team aggregate of 2263. All-American Shannon Wilson turned in a score of 572, while Jessica Hornby and Mara Polonsky added totals of 556 and 551, respectively. Casey Phillips and Pam Smith also competed and posted scores of 550 and 543, respectively.
“We didn’t have quite the day we wanted to,” said Boothe. “We just have to make it up tomorrow in the air rifle.”
Army won the team smallbore with a total of 2300.
