Ole Miss Rifle Defeats West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. The Ole Miss rifle team defeated Great America Rifle Conference foe West Virginia over the weekend by a team aggregate score of 4582-4568.

“I thought that the meet went well,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “Any time you can get a victory over a conference opponent is a good thing. I think we still need to improve our consistency to do well at the GARC and NCAA Championships.”

The Rebels were led in the air rifle by junior All-American Shannon Wilson, who turned in a score of 586. Jessica Hornby tied her career-high with a score of 585. Jennifer Lorenzen (583) and Mara Polonsky (566) added the team score. Ole Miss finished with a team score of 2320, while West Virginia posted a score of 2302.

Senior All-American Jennifer Lorenzen paced the Rebels in the smallbore with a score of 572. Shannon Wilson (566), Jessica Hornby (565) and Mara Polonsky (559) added the Rebel score. Ole Miss posted a team aggregate score of 2262 and West Virginia finished with a team score of 2266.

Ole Miss hosts one of the NCAA sectionals this weekend at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.
