Ole Miss Rifle Hosts NCAA Sectional

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss Rifle team will host the NCAA Sectionals on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness in Oxford. 

 

“We are very excited about hosting sectionals.  We won last year and we hope to do well this year”, says Valerie Boothe who was voted last season’s Nationals Coach of the year by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association.

 

The teams competing in sectional are Ole Miss, Tennessee Tech and UAB. The score posted in the sectional accounts for one-half of the qualifying score for the NCAA Championships, while the team’s average of their top three scores for the season account for the other half. The top eight teams in the nation advance to the NCAA Championships.

 

At the NCAA Sectionals last season the Rebels posted a school record score of 4674 en route to the programs first trip to the NCAA Championships.
