3/8/2007 | Men's Basketball

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss senior guard Todd Abernethy earned his second selection to the SEC Community Service Team this week, and will be featured during Lincoln Financial's telecasts of Saturday's semifinal games at the SEC Tournament.

The senior from Carmel, Ind., has taken part in numerous fundraisers and participated in mission trips to Brazil and Bermuda. An active leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Abernethy routinely talks to churches and civic groups and recently spoke to the Oxford Boys & Girls Club.

Abernethy has joined teammates in visiting patients at St. Jude Children's Hospital and a homeless youth shelter in Tupelo. He has gone Christmas Caroling at nursing homes, sponsored children whose parents are in prison and helped out at an inner city mission in Indianapolis.

A three-year Team Captain, Abernethy has led Ole Miss to its first SEC Western Division title since 2001 this year, earning All-SEC and All-District honors. His Rebels have a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament and will take on the winner of LSU and Tennessee Friday at 8:45 p.m. CT in Atlanta.
