Ole Miss Fills Out Hoops Schedule

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss filled the remainder of its 2007-08 men’s basketball schedule Saturday, as the Southeastern Conference released the full league docket for the upcoming season.

Eight home SEC games are highlighted by a Jan. 16 bout with two-time national champion Florida on Lincoln Financial. It is among 10 dates already slated for TV, including a Mar. 4 ESPN “Super Tuesday” encounter with Arkansas in the home finale.

LSU (Jan. 12 on FSN), Vanderbilt (Jan. 30), South Carolina (Feb. 2), Auburn (Feb. 16 on FSN), Mississippi State (Feb. 20) and Alabama (Mar. 1 on LF) will also be playing in Tad Smith Coliseum, where the Rebels went 16-1 last year and averaged 8,241 fans during league play.

The defending Western Division champion, Ole Miss is beginning conference play on the road for the 10th time in the last 13 years and will be doing so against Bruce Pearl’s Tennessee Volunteers on Jan. 9. Other away games include MSU on Feb. 20, Kentucky on Feb. 27 (LF) and Georgia on Mar. 8 in the regular-season finale.

"As always, the league is going to be tough top to bottom," said second-year Rebel head coach Andy Kennedy. "Regardless of the order of games, we've got to be up to the challenge every night."

For the second straight year, the SEC Tournament will be staged at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, Mar. 13-16. The Dome has played host to the event seven of the last 10 seasons.

Including the non-conference schedule, Ole Miss is set to face 16 teams that won 18 or more games a year ago. The Rebels will also host 15 total games in Oxford.
