8/23/2007 | Soccer

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss senior midfielder Chrissy Strini can add another accolade to her lengthy list. On Thursday, she was named to the first ever SEC Soccer Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team as announced by the league office.

The Cordova, Tenn., native and first All-American in school history is one of four midfielder selections on the 14-player All-SEC squad. Strini has been chosen to the All-SEC first team twice in her career, after her sophomore and junior years. In 2005, she received honorable mention All-America honors from Soccer Buzz.

Strini was also named one of three team captains for Ole Miss on Tuesday. The other 2007 captains voted on by their teammates are seniors Christine Liberto and Cori Mehan.

The Rebels kick off fall competition with an exhibition match against recent NCAA Tournament team Samford on Saturday at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
