Strini Adds Another Accolade; Rebels Rise in Regional Rankings

9/18/2007 | Soccer

OAKLAND, Calif. The awards keep pouring in for Ole Miss senior midfielder Chrissy Strini, who was named to Soccer America’s National Team of the Week on Tuesday.

This comes a day after she was selected as the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week and was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week. These are the first career weekly honors for the two-time All-SEC first team selection and 2005 All-America pick.

Strini scored both game-winning goals in the Rebels’ victories over Conference USA powers Rice and UCF this past weekend. In the 2-1 win over Rice, she assisted on the first score of the match by Amy Bayles and struck the game-winning goal with a free kick in the 52nd minute. Against UCF, the Cordova, Tenn., native knocked in the only goal of the match in the Rebels’ 1-0 shutout win.

The two wins moved the Rebels to 3-1-2 on the season. The momentum has moved Ole Miss up in regional rankings this week, as the team jumped into the No. 8 spot in the Central Region in both the Soccer Buzz and NSCAA polls.

Ole Miss looks to continue its winning ways with two more Conference USA opponents this weekend with matches at Memphis on Friday and at home vs. Colorado College on Sunday.
