Men's Tennis To Compete In ITA Southeast Regional

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss men's tennis team will be in Lexington, Ky., this weekend competing in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by the University of Kentucky.
The Southeast Region is regarded as the nation's toughest region with seven teams finishing the 2008 season ranked among the nation's top 25. Georgia was the National Champion, while Ole Miss advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight and ended the year ranked No. 6 in the nation.
Bram ten Berge, Jonas Berg and Kalle Norberg will be competing for the Rebels in singles. All three recently made it to the main draw in singles at the ITA All-American Championships, while ten Berge and Berg captured the doubles title.
The singles and doubles winners of the ITA Southeast Regional as well as the singles finalist receive an automatic berth into the ITA National Indoor in Charlottesville, Va., Nov. 6-9. ten Berge and Berg already earned a spot in doubles at the ITA National Indoor as the winner of the All-American Championships.
Ole Miss has won the singles title two of the last three years, with former three-time All-American Erling Tveit claiming the singles in 2006 and former All-American Matthias Wellermann winning it last fall.
The four-day event begins Thursday with doubles. Singles action begins Friday. The tournament concludes Monday with the singles and doubles finals. To follow the Rebels throughout the tournament, go to www.OleMissSports.com.
