All Three Rebels Advance At All-American

10/6/2008 | Men's Tennis

TULSA, Okla. Rained wreaked havoc on the first day of qualifying at the ITA D'Novo All-American Championships Tuesday, but it did not deter the Ole Miss men’s tennis team, who had all three of its players advance to the second round with straight set wins.

Junior Kalle Norberg began the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mike Sroczynski of Michigan.  He will face Andreas Weber of Hawaii in the second round Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Senior Jonas Berg, ranked No. 92 in the nation, downed Roman Stoisavljevic of New Mexico State 6-3, 6-3.  He will meet Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M in the second round at Noon.

Bram ten Berge, ranked No. 58 in the nation made it three-for-three when he defeated Keith Crowley of Miami 6-3, 6-3.

All three Rebels must win two more rounds to move onto the main draw, which begins Thursday.

The Rebels have had recent success at the All-American.  Berg teamed up with former three-time All-American Erling Tveit to reach the doubles final at last year’s tournament, and former All-American Catalin Gard won the singles title in 2004.
