Overcoming adversity has been something of a team motto this year. Our team has shown the strength of its character and boldness of its determination in playing through, and learning from, the adversities and misfortunes of pre-SEC play. Most of our preseason games did not turn out the way we had hoped, but the team learned a lot from every game and built upon these hard-earned lessons. We decided to take these lessons with us into SEC play, and it has made our team stronger.
We had a disappointing 2-0 loss against Arkansas to start the SEC season, but we did not let ourselves get down; we only worked harder to prepare ourselves for the rest of the season. We decided to put the loss behind us because, despite how the "W's" and "L's" played out on paper, we knew we were a much better team than what was reflected by our record. We came out with an amazing 1-0 win against LSU, and it was a huge win for Dee and I as many of our former teammates from youth and club teams are current members of the Tiger squad.
Our team is so elated after this past 2-0 weekend on the road. The 3-1 win over Auburn was one of the best overall performances that our team has had since I have been playing here at Ole Miss. Our win on Friday was an amazing feat, especially due to the fact that we were playing in Auburn's stadium. We were also able to accomplish a goal which we have not been able to do yet this season, which was to score three goals in a game. Taylor had two amazing goals, and Kelsey finished the game with a great goal of her own.
Sunday's game was not the most beautiful soccer, but we got the job done with a 2-1 win over Alabama. Bayles scored a very quick goal which gave us a boost of confidence and then Dee got the game winner off of a great header.
With a 3-1 record we are now leading the West and are second in the SEC. The only team in the SEC that is 4-0 is Florida, who we will be facing on the road. We travel to Florida and South Carolina this upcoming weekend, and it will be huge if we can come away from the weekend with two more wins under our belt. Our team has only beaten Florida once, and everyone is pumped to play them. We play South Carolina on Sunday. The bitter memory of our loss to South Carolina last season has proven to be a powerful motivator. We are confident in ourselves and each other, and we really feel like we can continue to lead the West and can come out on top of the overall SEC.

I can't believe that I am finally playing my senior season. Everyone talks about how the college years fly by, but I can now attest that is an understatement. I feel like just yesterday I was moving into the dorms and was so excited to start my college career as not only a student but also an athlete. But now it is all coming to an end, and I hope that this season will be the best one yet.Our first three games did not end with the outcome that we had all hoped for. We strive to play our best in every game, because it can determine our future of getting into the NCAA tournament at the end of the season. The loss to Western Kentucky was a huge wake up call for all of us. We had a few very intense practices, but they were beneficial and the team is fighting much harder on the field now because of them. Our outlook is much different now, and we played some hard fought games against SMU and TCU this past weekend. Coach Holeman has talked to us about "gutting it out," and we are becoming tougher both physically and mentally.
This weekend is going to be a true test for our team. We are playing our first home game against Memphis who has become a rival for us. We lost to Memphis last year in the last 10 minutes of the game, and everyone felt that we should have come out of that game with a victory. We have something to prove to Memphis and everyone is ready to get revenge.
There is a certain feeling that comes over the stadium on Friday night games. I think this Friday will be special because we have been on the road for all of our games so far, even our preseason game against Samford. I'm not only excited to play but I am extremely excited for our freshmen to play in the environment. Playing on a Friday night at home comes with a feeling that is unexplainable. I love stepping onto our home field especially against a rival team like Memphis. There will be some great soccer played this weekend and I hope that everyone can come out and support us. We have great fans and are always looking for more supporters. Until next time.
