10/7/2008 | Men's Tennis

TULSA, Okla. The Ole Miss men's tennis team is one step closer to having all three of its players in the main draw singles at the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships as all three Rebels advanced to the final round of qualifying Tuesday, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Kalle Norberg improved to 6-0 on the year by dominating Andreas Weber of Hawaii, 6-1, 6-2. He will face Florida freshman Joey Burkhardt in the final round Wednesday.

Teammates and seniors Jonas Berg and Bram ten Berge later joined Norberg in the final round. Berg downed last year's Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M, 6-3, 6-2 to improve to 5-1 on the year. He will play Marc Spicijaric of Illinois in the final round.

ten Berge (4-1) rallied to defeat Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the final round where he will meet Kriegler Brink of TCU.

Sixteen players from the qualifying tournament will advance to the main draw, which begins Thursday. Berg and ten Berge, ranked No. 9 in the nation, are already in main draw doubles.

The ITA All-American Championships are the first of three national championship events during the 2008-09 collegiate tennis season. The other two are the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November and the season-ending NCAA Championships in May.
