Kelsey Breathitt Named SEC Freshman Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss forward Kelsey Breathitt was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday after she helped Ole Miss to a 3-1 win over Mississippi State this past Friday.
Breathitt scored the second goal of her career to help le Miss clinch its 12th straight SEC Tournament berth and claim another victory in the Magnolia Cup series against the in-state rival Bulldogs.
With Ole Miss ahead 2-1, the Lexington, Ky., native gave the Rebels some insurance in the 60th minute when she took a shot that bounced off the MSU goalkeeper, then collected the rebound and tapped it in for the Rebels' third score of the evening. Breathitt ranks second behind Meredith Snow among the team's freshmen with 1,135 minutes played.
She is Ole Miss' third conference weekly honoree this season. Danielle Johnson was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after week 7 and Amy Bayles earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades last week.
Seventh-seeded Ole Miss plays No. 2 seed LSU in the first game of the SEC Tournament's opening round on Wednesday in Orange Beach, Ala. Kickoff is slated for noon CT.
