Rebels Competes In 3xAir Match

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Three Ole Miss Rebel shooters recently competed at the 3XAir Match sponsored by USA Shooting in Colorado Springs, Colo. Meredith Holman, Keely Stankey and Erica Swanson represented Ole Miss in this open event, which featured some of the nation's top shooters, including 2008 Olympians.

Holman placed fifth overall and took home junior medalist honors, while Stankey finished eighth and Swanson placed 20th overall.

Day one left the Rebels wanting more as Stankey and Swanson finished ranked 32nd and 33rd with a score of 384 out of 400. Holman shot 368 out of 400 for a rank of 55th. Day two was a definite improvement for Holman, who turned in 395 out of 400. This score advanced her to the finals where she started in third place overall and first in the junior final. After ten more shots, Holman landed in 5th in the overall and captured the junior title. Also improving on day two was Stankey, who shot 387 to finish in 20thth with a 379. place, while Erica Swanson came in at 40

On the final day of competition, Swanson and Holman held their own shooting 385 and 388, respectively. Stankey had her best day with 389 giving an invitation to the junior final in 7th spot, but slipped to 8th by the end of the ten shots.

"This was a great trip of us," said Head Coach Valerie Boothe. "This was a valuable experience for these individuals, and I feel Ole Miss was greatly represented."
