Ole Miss Women's Tennis To Face Iowa This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s tennis team looks to continue its winning ways this weekend as they face the University of Iowa Sunday at 11 a.m., at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

 

The Lady Rebels enter the match at 4-2 on the season. They are coming off a 4-2 win over Louisville last Sunday to improve to 4-0 at home.  Ole Miss is searching for its first road win of the season. 

 

Senior Nika Koukhartchouk is 5-1 at No. 1 singles, and freshman Karen Nijssen is undefeated (6-0) at No. 2 singles.  Koukhartchouk and Nijssen have combined for a 16-2 record at the top two spots in singles and at No. 1 doubles.

 

Iowa comes into the weekend ranked 45th in the ITA National Rankings with a 2-0 record.  They defeated Marquette 5-2 and beat DePaul 4-3 in their only two matches of the season.  The Hawkeyes are led by senior Jacqueline Lee, who owns an overall record of 9-5, 1-1 at No. 1 singles.

 

Ole Miss downed Iowa 9-0 in 1984, in their only other meeting.
