2/29/2008 | Men's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss senior center Dwayne Curtis will be featured this week as the SEC Community Service Team Player of the Week on Raycom Sports' telecasts of the Arkansas at Alabama, Ole Miss at Kentucky, Alabama at Ole Miss, Vanderbilt at Arkansas and Georgia at LSU games.
The Chicago, Ill., native has participated in Reading with the Rebels (a program which helps promote reading to area students) and the SAAC Annual Canned Food Drive with the Oxford Food Pantry. He was also involved in a "Party in the Park" rally for child abuse awareness. He has joined teammates in visiting patients at the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital and Children's Cancer Clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
A player will be highlighted on the Raycom Sports broadcasts and in the SEC release each week as the SEC Community Service Team "Player of the Week" for his accomplishments in the community and in the classroom. This will mark the 10th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
