Curtis, Warren Receive All-League Honors From Rivals.com

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss center Dwayne Curtis was tabbed All-SEC second team, and point guard Chris Warren was named to the SEC All-Freshman team, by Rivals.com Monday.

 

Curtis, who last week was named All-District by the NABC, is the second-leading scorer (14.7 ppg) and top rebounder (9.3) for the Rebels, while he ranks second in the SEC in rebounding. His 15 double-doubles also rank second in the league, while he finished tied for the SEC lead with nine double-doubles in league play. The Chicago native tops the SEC and ranks among the top five players in the nation in field-goal percentage (.646) and offensive rebounds per game (4.3).

 

Warren has been a very steady producer as the Rebels’ rookie starting point guard, leading the team with 15.7 points per game and 4.5 assists per contest. He ranks among the top five SEC freshmen in scoring, assists, steals and three-pointers, while he is fourth among all SEC players and second among all freshmen in the nation with 2.9 three’s per game. The Orlando native owns the Ole Miss freshman records for points and three-pointers and has scored 20 or more points on eight occasions, including seven times in league play.

 

Ole Miss looks to boost its NCAA Tournament credentials with a strong showing at the SEC Tournament this week. The West No. 3 seed Rebels face East No. 6 seed Georgia on Thursday at 9:45 p.m. ET, with the winner advancing to play East No. 2 Kentucky on Friday at 9:45 as well.
