FLUSHING, N.Y. The Ole Miss men’s tennis team got the year off to an excellent start, sweeping both the singles and doubles titles in the top flight at the USTA National Tennis Center Invitational this weekend.

Jonas Berg and Kalle Norberg made the singles final, with Norberg defeating Berg 6-4, 7-5.  Norberg went 4-0 in the top flight, also posting a win over ten Berge, ranked No. 58 in the nation, on his way to the final.

Berg teamed up with fellow senior Bram ten Berge to capture the doubles championship.  Berg and ten Berge, ranked No. 9 in the nation, went 3-0 on the weekend, capped off by an 8-6 win over Louisville’s Robert Rotaru and Alejandro Calligari in the final.

“It was a good weekend for us,” head coach Billy Chadwick said.  “Anytime you can win both singles and doubles titles in a tournament, is a success.  The guys all played great, and we are excited to start the year off with two wins.”
