Johnson Receives National Team Of The Week Honors

10/13/2009 | Soccer

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss midfielder Danielle Johnson, this week's SEC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week and tabbed a College Soccer 360 Primetime Performer on Tuesday.

A senior team captain, Johnson scored both Rebel goals this past weekend in a 1-0 road win over No. 16 Georgia and a 1-1 tie at Tennessee. The Baton Rouge, La., native helped Ole Miss to wins over ranked teams in back-to-back games for the first time in school history and has seen the Rebels match their highest ranking in program history at No. 21 (Soccer America).

On Monday, Johnson became the first player in SEC history to be named a league offensive and defensive player of the week during her career. She earns national team of the week honors for the third time in her career, once in each of the last three seasons.

She is the third Rebel to receive national team of the week honors this year, joining Taylor Cunningham (Soccer America - Sept. 1) and Abbie Curran (CS360 - Oct. 6).

Johnson will help lead the Rebels against her hometown LSU Tigers on Friday and against Arkansas on Sunday in the third and fourth outings of a five-match road swing.
