MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Keely Stankey and Erica Swanson both fired air rifle scores of 578 to lead the Ole Miss Rebel rifle team to a team aggregate score of 4472 at the season-opening Tiger Invitational on Thursday, hosted by the University of Memphis.
Stankey and Swanson tied for the team high with their scores, while freshman Emma Holman and junior Colleen Tillson rounded out the Rebel air rifle scoring with marks of 562 and 572, respectively. The Rebels finished with a team air score of 2290. Sophomores Amanda Green and Misty White shot as individuals and finished with marks of 499 and 493, respectively.
Junior Meredith Holman fired a mark of 558 to lead the Rebels in the smallbore. Meredith's sister, Emma, turned in a mark of 549, while Tillson and Swanson finished out the Rebel smallbore line with scores of 546 and 529. Green and White, shooting as individuals, fired totals of 499 and 493, respectively. The Rebels finished with a smallbore total of 2182.
"It's not the start we were looking for," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "But it's good to expose the weak areas early on and address them. It's always a challenge to shoot at the Memphis range, because it's different from what we are used to. We are looking forward to having a better match at home this weekend."
The Tiger Invitational will conclude this weekend, while the Rebels will return home to host the Ole Miss Invitational at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center beginning Friday.
