Soccer Moves Tonight's Match To Football Stadium

10/30/2009 | Soccer

OXFORD, Miss. - With soccer field conditions unplayable due to extensive rain, No. 23 Ole Miss will kick off its final weekend of the regular season inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at 7:00 tonight against Mississippi State.

The Rebels were forced to move the contest from the normal confines of the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium (natural grass) to the artificial turf surface (FieldTurf) at the football stadium. It will be the first ever collegiate soccer match played in the Rebels' football stadium.

A location for Sunday's 1 p.m. Alabama game will be determined later this weekend based on weather developments.

At 11-4-2 overall and 5-2-2 in league play, Ole Miss is in position to challenge LSU for the SEC West title and to finish as high as second in the SEC overall, which determines seeding for next week's league tournament in Orange Beach, Ala.
