Rebel Netters Advance At ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. -- The Ole Miss men's tennis team went 5-0 on the first day of competition at the pre-qualifying tournament at the ITA D'Novo All-American Championships Saturday, with all four Rebels advancing to the third round at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Junior Tucker Vorster downed Eric Nguyen of Bradley 6-2, 6-1 in the first round and then beat Eduardo Salas of New Mexico State 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the third round and remain undefeated. He will face Jason Zafios of Arizona Sunday.

Sophomore Marcel Thiemann had a first round bye and then cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Phil Anderson of New Mexico in the second round. He will play North Carolina State's Rob Lowe in the third round.

His twin brother Chris Thiemann, also had a bye and then rallied to top Marcus Lunt of Texas A&M, 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Thiemann will meet Matheus Pereira of Wichita State in the third round.

Freshman Adrian Forberg Skogeng remained undefeated with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Corey Smith of Montana State in the second round, after a first round bye. Next up for Forberg Skogeng is Darren Walsh of SMU.
