Rebels Finish Third At Ole Miss Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - Led by strong air rifle scores from Colleen Tillson, Keely Stankey and Erica Swanson the Ole Miss Rebel rifle team turned in a team aggregate score of 4582 to finish third at the Ole Miss Invitational hosted at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center over the weekend.
Swanson, a junior from Savannah, Ga., fired a team-best score of 584, while Tillson (582) and Stankey (581) both turned in excellent marks to help the Rebels to a second place air finish with a score of 2322. Junior Meredith Holman rounded out the Rebel line with an air score of 575. Emma Holman (565), Amanda Green (538) and Misty White (492) also competed as individuals.
In the smallbore, Stankey led the way with a mark of 572, while Swanson finished with a total of 570. Meredith Holman and Colleen Tillson finished the Rebel line with scores of 563 and 555, respectively, for a team aggregate of 2260. Also shooting smallbore were Emma Holman (550), White (474) and Green (460).
"We definitely improved from our first match," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "We saw some areas from the first match that we needed to address and we did a good job of coming out and working on those. We are going to take the next three weeks and continue to work on our weaknesses and come out ready for Nebraska and Army."
Next up, the Rebels will host Nebraska on Oct 31 and Army on Nov. 1 at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford.
