Rebel Netters Qualify For Futures At Highland Park

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team will be well-represented at the USTA Futures here at Highland Park, beginning Tuesday.
Five current and former Rebels are in the singles main draw. Current members, junior Tucker Vorster and sophomores Marcel Thiemann and Chris Thiemann, advanced through the qualifying on Monday, while former Rebel All-Americans Erling Tveit and Devin Britton were already in the main draw.
Vorster defeated Olivier Sajous of Haiti, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(6) in the final round of qualifying. It was the only match of his four that went three sets.
Marcel Thiemann also won three of his four matches in straight sets to get to the finals, where he beat Robert Pietrucha of the United States, 6-0, 2-6, 6-0. His brother, Chris Thiemann, knocked out the No. 2 seed, Mark Verryth of Australia, 7-6(4) 5-7 6-2 in the finals.
Vorster and the Thiemann's don't play their first round match until Wednesday.
