Ole Miss Postgame Quotes

11/20/2009 | Men's Basketball

Head Coach Andy Kennedy:

Opening comments...

"This has been a great experience to this point. We're excited to be here and be a part of this field. As every coach coming in, I've got more questions than answers and that's why we're here. I thought our guys responded to Indiana coming out and being aggressive, which you would hope an experienced team would do. We have some experienced guards and made some adjustments and come away with the first win in the history of our program against Indiana. I have so much respect for Tom (Crean) and his program."

On the possibility of coaching against Kansas State...

"Nothing against BU, but I hope that happens. Frank (Martin) is one of my dear friends. He's done a tremdnous job at Kansas State. I would love to have that opportunity. A lot of people don't like to play against their friends. I'm the opposite way. I like to play against my friends, because then I know at least one good guy's going to win."

On in-game adjustments...

"I think our defensive intensity picked up tremendously. We turned them over, which allowed us to get out in the open floor. We went a little smaller. They were pushing the ball up and down the floor. Tom is committed to playing up-tempo. You can tell your guys that, but it's difficult to simulate the speed. I thought Jeremiah Rivers was outstanding at getting the ball right back through us, make or miss. As a result, when we would score, Indiana would turn right back around and have the ball back at the basket. We had some trouble with ball-screening action, which we adjusted to as well."

On Murphy Holloway...

"We tried to get Murph behind the zone, because they got so extended on the perimeter. It opened up some opportunities behind the zone. Polynice did a great job of penetrating and developing scoring opportunities for Murph."

Sophomore forward Murphy Holloway:

On the easy layups...

"We went to the sideline and coach told us to get behind the zone. It was open, so I just got behind the zone and got easy points. Eniel Polynice kept taking it from the top of the key and making plays happen."

On the first-half spurt...

"We knew we had to turn it on. We knew we were a better team than what we were playing like, so we came to the sideline and regrouped. They came out and hit us in the mouth, and I think we responded very well."
